"Idea-Kryptonitous: The crippling thought that something is wrong or that there are just too many ideas that it induces a state of overwhelm-ness. So nothing gets done the way you wish it would" ~ Katey Shaw
For me, ideas often feel like an 80s Aerobics video where a bunch of people jump on stage in weird outfits.
It's a bit all over the place, but there is a rhythm to the maddness 😂
The difference between ideas being a coordinated event or stress induced inactivity, is the emotions we have attached to it.
So if you want to make Ideas-Kryptonitous a superpower here's what you could do...
Imagine the stress associated with the thing you are trying to achieve. Then draw two lists where are you are are skilled? Write them on one side.
Then on the other side write down your:
Knowledge gaps, skill shortage issues, plus any other problems
From this list is there are logical next small step you could take?
Some things light us up...we are happy to go down the rabbit hole and nerd out on it. Others exhaust and overwhelm us.
Assess what's in your too hard basket. Why is it 'so' hard? Can it be answered by going into a Facebook group of knowledge base? Outsourced on Fiverr or somewhere else?
Inversion thinking, is the mental framework where you look at the worse that could happen and do what you can to avoid getting in that position. For some people this is helpful for others it causes them to spiral.
So, decide what you need and move with it.
Whether you do or you don't. There really aren't any serious consequences for your actions. It's just self induced stress or anxiety. So be kind to yourself and know that if you do right by yourself and others -- it will work out ok in the end.
Here is a quick checklist to get you started with turning idea-kryptonitous into a super power.
